Ten Foreign Nationals Arrested for Alleged Drug Smuggling in the Maldives

Police have arrested ten foreign nationals for allegedly attempting to smuggle seven kilogrammes of drugs into the Maldives by sea.

The Criminal Court ordered the remand of five suspects for five days, while the remaining five have been remanded for one day. Those remanded for five days include Ganesh Bonmali, 22, Peter Winnie, 28, and Prabhakarana Nagarajan, 35, from India, as well as Adriansya, 25, and Mohammed Iqbal Makmur, 30, from Indonesia.

The five individuals remanded for one day are Dathkile Darshan Vijay, 22, Saran Padman, 26, Romance Santhia Fernando, 58, and Govsik Raj James Knox, 30, from India, along with Naswan Ardil, 30, from Indonesia.

According to the court order, the suspects are charged with drug smuggling and trafficking. However, further details, including their point of origin, have not been disclosed.
