Child Injured in Road Collision on Bridge Highway

A collision between a motorbike and a van on the Sinamalé Bridge highway last evening has left a six-year-old girl seriously injured.
According to the Maldives Police Service, the accident occurred at approximately 17:53hrs. The motorbike and van were involved in a collision near the exit from Hulhulé, close to the seaplane terminal area.
The child, who was a passenger on the motorbike, was taken to Tree Top Hospital for treatment. The rider of the motorbike was transported to Hulhumalé Hospital. Police confirmed that both individuals sustained injuries, but further details have not been disclosed.
Eyewitness reports suggest the impact of the collision threw the child into the air, causing her to land some distance from the bike. Blood was seen at the accident site, according to accounts shared with local media.
Police have stated that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
