The Maldives Customs Service confirmed inward clearance for MS Aida Stella upon its arrival, underscoring the country’s continued appeal as a cruise tourism destination. The Maldives sees regular visits from a number of international cruise lines each year, contributing to its reputation in the sector.
In recognition of the economic potential of cruise tourism, the current administration has stepped up efforts to enhance the sector. The government has launched development projects for three specialised harbours in different regions of the country to accommodate cruise ships more effectively.
Driven by such initiatives, overall tourist arrivals in the Maldives have shown steady growth. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, more than 897,000 visitors have arrived in the country so far this year, indicating a positive trend in the nation’s tourism industry.
