“The Maldives calls on the international community to take decisive and immediate action to halt the escalation of violence and the immediate cessation of hostilities. We reiterate our call to take effective measures for the protection of civilian lives in accordance with the international legal and moral obligations and ensure that Israel is held accountable for its actions,” Muizzu said.

Israel has recently escalated violence in Gaza, even as the international community voices concern over the risk of mass starvation caused by the ongoing blockade of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory.

Since 7 October 2023, Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed over 53,000 people. According to Gaza authorities, these assaults have also injured 119,919 individuals.”
