Teenager Arrested Following Violent Incident Near Hiyaa Tower in Hulhumalé Phase II

Police have arrested an 18-year-old male in connection with a violent altercation that took place near the H11 Hiyaa tower in Hulhumalé Phase II on Monday night, which left two people injured.
The suspect, identified as Mohamed Raihan Hussain of Ma. Shelter, Malé, was taken into custody under a court warrant at approximately 11:10pm on Tuesday. He was presented before the court on Wednesday, where he was remanded in custody pending the outcome of his trial.
The incident was reported to police at around 11:51pm on Monday. According to police, two individuals sustained injuries during the altercation. One victim suffered a head laceration, while the other sustained swelling and bruises to his back and elbows.
In addition to the physical assault, police confirmed that two mobile phones were stolen during the incident. Both injured individuals were taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment.
Footage circulating online, believed to show the incident, appears to depict the altercation taking place in a vacant plot next to the H11 tower. The video shows one man fleeing the scene while another remains on the ground in visible distress.
The Hiyaa housing towers are home to an estimated 30,000 residents and have previously faced challenges related to crime, including theft and drug-related activities.
