State Electric Company (STELCO) was awarded first place in the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) category at the Maldives Expo 2025, the nation’s largest exhibition, held Thursday night.
The organisers hosted the Maldives Expo 2025 Awards Ceremony on Thursday evening at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE), prior to the official opening of the exhibition on Friday. During the ceremony, President Dr Mohamed Muiz presented awards to top performers across various categories, including the Golden Prize, which recognised the five highest-scoring exhibits at the Expo.
STELCO earned top honours in the SOE category for its Regional SCADA system—a monitoring system the company developed to oversee all aspects of power generation across STELCO-operated islands. According to STELCO, the system allows them to efficiently troubleshoot issues, minimise unplanned power outages, and plan more accurately for future power demand.
