Discussions focused on expanding collaboration to support the growth of the sports sector in the Maldives. The Maldivian government aims to draw on the experience of countries with strong sporting achievements, such as the United States, to provide training and development opportunities for Maldivian athletes.

The United States expressed continued interest in supporting the Maldives in advancing its sports sector, which forms part of the government’s broader efforts to boost international engagement in this field.

The Maldives has set ambitious long-term goals in sports, including winning medals at the Olympic Games and the Asian Games within the next 15 years. The government is also working to increase the country’s participation in international competitions as part of its national sports development strategy.
