Adverse Weather Conditions Forecast for Northern and Central Maldives
The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast strong winds and rough seas for the northern and central regions of the country over the next five days, warning of swells and thunderstorms in these areas.

The Maldives is currently in the midst of the southwest monsoon, also known as the wet season, which typically lasts until November.
The southern atolls began experiencing the seasonal transition from 7 May, followed by the central atolls from 12 May. The onset of the wet season in the northern parts of the country began last Thursday.

As weather conditions are expected to deteriorate further in the coming days, authorities have urged seafarers to exercise caution due to the risk posed by rough seas and strong winds.
The Meteorological Service had issued yellow alerts in several parts of the country last week in response to worsening conditions.
