The Maldives Hajj Mission has confirmed that all 1,000 Maldivian pilgrims have arrived in Makkah and are in good health.

Pilgrims began departing for Saudi Arabia last Monday, with the final group having travelled on Friday.

This year, the Maldives was included in the Makkah Route Initiative, which the Hajj Mission said had significantly eased the arrival process. Pilgrims reportedly spent minimal time at Jeddah Airport, and many expressed satisfaction with the streamlined procedures.

The Hajj Corporation is currently finalising preparations for the journey to the mashairs—important holy sites including Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.

Several improvements have been introduced this year to enhance convenience for Maldivian pilgrims. These include replacing the traditional 10 to 12-hour bus journey from Makkah to Madinah with a high-speed rail service that reduces travel time to just a few hours. A dedicated clinic has also been established in Saudi Arabia specifically for Maldivian pilgrims.

The Day of Arafat, one of the most significant days in the Hajj pilgrimage, falls on 5 June this year.
