VP Latheef Departs for Spain to Represent Maldives at Global Finance Conference

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef departed for Spain on Sunday morning to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), set to take place from 30 June to 3 July 2025 in Seville.

According to the President’s Office, the Vice President will represent the Maldives during the opening segment of the conference and deliver a national statement during the plenary session. He is also scheduled to take part in multi-stakeholder roundtable discussions, where he will spotlight the Maldives’ ongoing efforts in financial reform and advocate for global support on debt sustainability and inclusive international representation.

On the sidelines of the event, Vice President Latheef will deliver remarks at Maldives-hosted sessions, with senior government officials also set to engage in a series of high-level meetings and discussions throughout the conference.

FfD4 brings together global leaders, financial institutions, development partners, and UN agencies to advance dialogue on international financial reform. The previous conference was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2015.
