Former Police Officer Injured in Group Assault in Hulhumeedhoo

A former police officer was injured on Tuesday night after being attacked by a group of seven men in the Hulhumeedhoo district of Addu City.

According to CCTV footage, the incident occurred as the victim exited a residence in the area. The footage shows the assailants arriving on motorcycles and forcibly pushing the victim out of the camera’s view before fleeing the scene in the same manner.

Police have confirmed the victim as a former officer of the Maldives Police Service. He was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and later discharged, as his injuries were not deemed serious.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, although no arrests have been confirmed at this time.
