New Term Begins for Vice President and Four Members of Bar Council Executive Committee

Five newly elected members of the Bar Council Executive Committee, including a new Vice President, have officially begun their terms today, marking the start of a new chapter for the Council’s leadership.
Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Shameel has taken office as Vice President of the Executive Committee, while Al-Ustaz Mohamed Shafeeu, Al-Ustaz Mohamed Azmee, Al-Ustaz Abdullah Nahid, and Al-Ustaz Ahmed Shafiu have joined as new committee members.
These changes follow the conclusion of the three-year terms of former Vice President Al-Ustaza Mizna Ahmed and members Al-Ustaz Ahmed Muizz, Al-Ustaza Dheena Hussein, Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Shameel (now reappointed as Vice President), and Al-Ustaz Sadiq Naseer. Under the Legal Profession Act of the Maldives (Law Number 2019/5), Executive Committee members serve a maximum of two terms.
With these appointments, the Executive Committee now consists of:
- President: Al-Ustaz Hussein Siraj
- Vice President: Al-Ustaz Ibrahim Shameel
- Members: Al-Ustaza Aishath Sheena Mohamed, Al-Ustaz Ahmed Shifau, Al-Ustaz Abdulsalam Arif, Al-Ustaz Mohamed Shafeeu, Al-Ustaz Mohamed Azmee, Al-Ustaz Abdullah Nahid, and Al-Ustaz Ahmed Shafiu.
The new members are expected to serve through 2028.
