RTL High-Speed Ferry Service to Launch in Baa Atoll Next Week

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has announced that preparations are complete for the commencement of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service in Baa Atoll, set to begin next week.
In a statement released today, the Ministry confirmed that the service will be offered free of charge from Monday, July 28th, until August 3rd. This introductory period is intended to allow residents to familiarise themselves with the new transport option. Ticketed services will commence on August 4th.

Residents will be able to book their tickets through the RTL website and mobile application.
The Integrated National Public Ferry Network is a key initiative launched by the previous administration, designed to connect Maldivian atolls via a comprehensive high-speed ferry system. The project is being implemented in three phases, dividing the atolls into six distinct zones.

The launch of the RTL high-speed ferry service in Baa Atoll will complete the rollout of services across all atolls within Zone 2 of the network, which already includes Noonu and Raa Atolls. The Ministry also stated that efforts are currently underway to expand services to the four atolls designated under Zone 3.
State-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is responsible for providing RTL services.
