First Lady Sajidhaa Mohamed inaugurated the licensing software for the Health Establishment Management System (HEMS) today, at the official ceremony of World Patient Safety Day 2025.
She was welcomed at the event by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.
The HEMS licensing software was introduced to streamline the inspection of registered health service providers and professionals. Alongside this, the First Lady also launched the JCI Patient Safety Champions Training Programme, part of a broader initiative to enhance patient care, compassion and protection.
The ceremony featured a panel discussion on the theme “Safe care for every newborn and every child”, under the slogan “Patient safety from the start!”.
Health Minister Abdulla Nazim and senior officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Maldives attended the event.
World Patient Safety Day has been observed annually on 17 September since 2019.
