Minister of Language, Culture and Heritage, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, has highlighted the government’s aim to explore creative and innovative approaches to heritage representation worldwide, with plans to adapt such strategies within the Maldives.
The Minister began his official visit to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, where he is serving as Guest of Honour at the Sharjah International Narrator’s Forum. Organised by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, the event is being held from Monday to Friday and marks its 25th silver jubilee this year.
During the opening session on Monday, the Minister delivered a presentation on the relationship between the Dhivehi script and the Arabic script. His delegation included national history expert Ahmed Shakir, commonly known as ‘Kashima’, and scholar Isha Abdul Azeez, both of whom presented papers at the forum.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the delegation’s participation aimed not only to share academic contributions but also to gain insights into advanced methods of cultural representation. The focus was on learning how modern technology and scientific developments are being applied in the global heritage sector.
As part of his visit, the Minister also met with Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, on Tuesday, where he conveyed appreciation for the embassy’s support and hospitality.
