Vehicle Catches Fire In Hulhumale’, No Casualties Reported

A vehicle caught fire on a road in the first phase of Hulhumale’ yesterday.

A video circulating on social media showed a white car engulfed in flames, with the fire concentrated in the engine area. Firefighters from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) were seen at the scene working to put out the blaze.
According to the MNDF, the Hulhumale’ Fire Station received the incident report at around 22:48. Firefighters from both the Hulhumale’ Fire Station and Male’ Area Command responded, bringing the fire under control by 23:18. The MNDF confirmed the incident was fully extinguished by 23:49.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Similar incidents have been reported previously. On 24 December last year, a taxi parked in Hithigas Magu, Hulhumale’, caught fire, while earlier that same month, another vehicle ignited near Marrybrown. Both incidents caused significant damage to the vehicles, but no injuries were recorded.
