The government has begun removing banners and posters from streets in Hulhumalé that were put up without proper authorisation.
The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) stated that prior authorisation is required before any posters or banners are displayed on Hulhumalé’s streets.
HDC confirmed that unauthorised banners and posters would be taken down and emphasised that it would not be responsible for any damage incurred during their removal.
The move comes shortly after the Malé City Council removed banners in Malé promoting the Maldivian Democratic Party’s rally on 3 October.
