Malé’s New Skate Arena Project Officially Commences

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the ceremony to commence physical work on a new Skate Arena at Usfasgandu in Malé, last Thursday, which will feature a roller-skating track and skateboard park.
Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu officiated the ceremony, with Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Tholal and senior ministry officials also present.
The event saw the participation of many children and young skaters, who showcased their skills, alongside representatives from groups that actively promote skating activities in the Maldives.
Muizzu has stated that the construction of a permanent Skating Arena in the Usfasgandu area will provide youth with enhanced opportunities to succeed in skating at the international level.
In a post on his official X account, President Dr Muizzu emphasised that the project marks a significant step forward in youth development and community welfare. He also extended his congratulations to the roller skating and skateboarding community on the commencement of the project.
A ceremony to commence physical work on the Skate Arena project was held on Thursday evening, with President Dr Muizzu in attendance. Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, and Adam Raheem, Deputy Managing Director of Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC), officiated the event.
