President Muizzu Appoints Two New Members to Tax Appeal Tribunal

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed two new members to the Tax Appeal Tribunal yesterday.
Ibrahim Afeef, from Baa Atoll Thulhaadhoo, has been appointed as a member of the Tribunal, while Shaufa Ibrahim, from Dhaalu Atoll Meedhoo, has been appointed as the member representing the legal field.
The appointments were made following Parliament’s review and approval.
The Tax Appeal Tribunal, composed of five members, was established to adjudicate matters arising under the Tax Administration Act and other taxation laws. Members of the Tribunal are appointed by the President with the approval of the Parliament.
The Tribunal has the authority to review and deliberate on tax-related disputes, summon individuals, collect witness statements, obtain evidence, and take necessary measures to determine the facts of cases submitted to it.
