The State Electric Company (STELCO) announced it has brought an additional 400-kilowatt generator to Fulidhoo in Vaavu Atoll as part of preparations for the upcoming peak season.
The new generator is currently being commissioned and will increase the island’s total generation capacity from 940 kilowatts to 1,340 kilowatts. Authorities said the upgrade aims to ensure a more reliable electricity supply for residents and businesses on the island.
The company added that the expanded capacity is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen electricity infrastructure across the atolls and to meet growing demand during periods of high consumption.
