President Dr Mohamed Muizzu returned to Malé today following the conclusion of his three-day tour of the inhabited islands of Laamu Atoll, where he engaged with local communities and reviewed development priorities.
During the visit, the President travelled to all eleven inhabited islands of the atoll: Kunahandhoo, Hithadhoo, Maamendhoo, Fonadhoo, Maavah, Gan, Mundoo, Maabaidhoo, Kalaidhoo, Isdhoo, and Dhan’bidhoo. He met with Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), and residents to discuss community well-being and ongoing projects. A delegation of Cabinet ministers and heads of State-Owned Enterprises accompanied him, providing updates on both ongoing and planned initiatives.
Multiple development projects were formally launched, and agreements were signed covering housing, infrastructure, education, healthcare, social welfare, and financial accessibility. Despite some postponements due to adverse weather, the President assured that all projects will proceed as planned.
During the final stop of the tour, President Muizzu confirmed the construction of a modern 30-bed hospital for Isdhoo and Kalaidhoo, alongside investments in sanitation, school expansions, sports facilities, and electricity infrastructure. Bank of Maldives ATM services were inaugurated, completing coverage across the atoll, and an agreement was signed with MTCC for Kalaidhoo Harbour development.
