Man From Ungoofaaru Fined for Assaulting Resident of Dhuvaafaru

A man from R. Ungoofaaru has been fined for assaulting a man from R. Dhuvaafaru during an altercation in the garbage area of Ungoofaaru.

The incident occurred on 11 November last year, when the Ungoofaaru man struck the victim on the back of the neck. Medical records confirmed that the victim sustained injuries from the attack.

The prosecution filed charges in May this year, and the case concluded last week at the Ungoofaaru Magistrate Court. He denied the charges, but the court found him guilty based on evidence presented by the prosecution.

Both the defendant and the victim requested leniency in sentencing. Chief Magistrate Rimah Mohamed ordered him to pay a fine of MVR 14,400 within three months.
