The 12-storey building will be developed on a 2,000 square-foot plot on Buruzu Magu in Henveiru. It will include a basement parking area, reception and additional parking on the ground floor, office spaces, prayer rooms, and meeting rooms on the upper floors. The second floor will feature a conference hall, while the rooftop will serve as an open terrace. The design also incorporates disability access.
The Islamic Ministry stated that RCC is required to complete the project within 540 days. Once operational, the building is expected to generate an annual revenue of MVR 10.8 million through the leasing of office space. Twenty percent of the earnings will be allocated to the Maldives Zakat House, while the remaining 80 percent will go to the Islamic Waqf Fund.
The Ministry added that further Waqf buildings are planned in Hulhumale’ and in Male’ for Quran-related services, along with additional projects in Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Kulhudhuffushi City, and GA Vilingili.
