The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts on conducting and expanding apprenticeship programmes has been renewed for another three years.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at MPL’s head office yesterday. The Ministry was represented by State Minister Ali Shammaan, while MPL’s Chief Learning and Development Officer, Aishath Shimla, signed on behalf of the company.

The renewed partnership aims to enhance vocational training and provide greater opportunities for young people to gain practical work experience, contributing to national-level education and workforce development. Under the agreement, MPL will continue to conduct national apprenticeship programmes across designated fields.

The Youth Ministry will promote the initiative among young people and oversee the monitoring and evaluation of training quality and progress. Participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a National Certificate Level 3 qualification.

MPL has so far completed 11 batches of the National Apprenticeship Programme in collaboration with the Ministry. The renewal of the MoU represents a continued effort to strengthen youth development and expand employment opportunities across the country.
