First Direct Cargo Vessel from Tuticorin Arrives in Kulhudhuffushi

The first vessel transporting goods directly from Tuticorin, India, to Kulhudhuffushi City has arrived in the northern Maldivian city.
General cargo vessel VB Progress arrived in Kulhudhuffushi from Tuticorin, India, carrying 127 tonnes of cargo, including construction materials of STO and perishables of a private party.

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) reported that the vessel, VB Progress, carrying 127 tonnes of cargo, docked in Kulhudhuffushi on Friday. The shipment included construction materials for the State Trading Organisation (STO) and food items for a private business.
The arrival marks the launch of a permanent goods transport route between Tuticorin and Kulhudhuffushi. MPL has scheduled one voyage per month on the route, with plans to increase frequency as cargo volumes grow.
