Four Uzbek Women and Maldivian Man Arrested in Hulhumale’ Prostitution Case

Four women from Uzbekistan and a Maldivian man were arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of engaging in prostitution at an apartment in Hiyaa Tower, Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The Maldives Police Service said the operation took place around 21:49, following a tip-off regarding prostitution for profit involving foreign women, as well as the possession and use of drugs.
The arrested individuals include Maldivian man Hussain Solah, 40, from Cuba, R. Rasgetheemu, and four Uzbek women: Zareema Gulamovena Dejuraeva, 40; Dildora Egamnovaza, 31; Shahuzodokhan Rusthamova, 28; and Umidabonu Nemarova, 34.
Police carried out the arrests during a court-ordered search of the apartment in Hiyaa Tower 12, identified as the crime scene.
Authorities seized over USD 19,100 and MVR 18,000 from the apartment during the search.
Solah and Dejuraeva were remanded in custody for 10 days by court order, while the remaining three women were remanded for five days.
The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the case is under further investigation.
