The Commission has also announced the recruitment of more than 7,000 polling officials, with applications required to be submitted via e-pass by 15:00 on 21 December.

In addition, the ECM is hiring staff across several departments, including Human Resources, Administration, Media, Public Relations, IT, Finance, and Legal. Applications must be submitted to jobs@elections.gov.mv along with the necessary documents.

Political parties have already begun preparations for the elections. The ruling Progressive National Party (PNC), the largest party in the Maldives, opened candidacy opportunities on Monday.

Meanwhile, Parliament, where the government holds a clear majority, has amended the Constitution and relevant laws to abolish Atoll Councils and reduce the number of councillors on sparsely populated islands.
