The Maldives has been named World’s Leading Destination 2025, securing its sixth consecutive win at the prestigious World Travel Awards.

With this victory, the Maldives equals Dubai’s record of six World’s Leading Destination titles but becomes the only destination to achieve six wins in a row, setting a new benchmark in global tourism.

The World Travel Awards, often called the “Oscars of Tourism,” have recognised excellence in travel and hospitality for nearly 30 years. The Maldives previously won in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, while Dubai secured six titles in 2002, 2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. This milestone places the Maldives alongside other global tourism leaders, including Visit Britain and Brand USA, which have also won six times in related categories.

Officials said the achievement reflects the efforts of the Government of Maldives, Visit Maldives, the tourism industry, international partners, and the Maldivian people, highlighting the country’s focus on quality tourism, sustainability, high-yield markets, and innovation.

With its world-class hospitality, unmatched natural beauty, and strong international presence, the Maldives continues to set the standard for luxury and sustainable tourism. The latest award reinforces its position as one of the most sought-after and respected destinations in the world.
