A three-day training programme on design and data sharing has been launched to strengthen the connectivity and efficiency of government services in the digital sector.

The workshop, organised jointly by the National Centre for Information Technology and the International Telecommunications Union, began yesterday with a focus on improving interoperability and standardisation across public services.

The Minister of State for Homeland Security and Technology, Dr Mohamed Kinanath, underscored the importance of the programme, noting that initiatives of this kind play a vital role in expanding the capacity and reach of government services.

The training is aimed at equipping staff from government institutions and agencies, as well as professionals from the private sector, with the skills needed to better integrate digital services. Participants are being introduced to international standards established by the International Telecommunications Union for digitising government operations and are learning how to utilise the GovStack framework to enhance service delivery.

The workshop also serves as a platform for government bodies to present their progress in digital transformation, reinforcing the Maldives’ continued commitment to advancing its digital infrastructure.
