Maldives Immigration detained four migrants during raids on four massage parlours last night in efforts to combat illegal businesses operated by foreign workers.

The authority confirmed that the migrants were undocumented. All four massage parlours have received closure notices from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

Attempts to obtain further details from Maldives Immigration were unsuccessful, as the authority’s media office did not respond to requests for comment.

Massage parlours have frequently been used as fronts for prostitution, and such establishments have been targeted in previous enforcement operations.

The raids form part of ongoing efforts by Maldives Immigration to identify and detain migrants involved in illegal business activities, which have previously resulted in the detention of dozens of foreign nationals, including those without proper documentation.
