Maldives to Introduce Award Recognising Best Hajj and Umrah Service Providers

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced plans to introduce a special award recognising local companies that provide the best Hajj and Umrah services.
In the Maldives, Hajj and Umrah trips were historically organised by both government and private companies. Following post-COVID challenges, the Hajj Corporation has managed all Hajj pilgrimages since 2023. Private companies continue to be permitted to organise Umrah trips.

The Ministry aims to foster a competitive environment to ensure high-quality services for pilgrims. Rules and guidelines for the award have already been drafted and will be reviewed with service providers during the upcoming Hajj and Umrah Conference before being finalised. The award system is scheduled to be launched next year.
