Europe has led tourist arrivals to the Maldives this year, with the U.K. contributing 194,931 visitors so far, among other European countries on the list, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
Around 862,000 visitors from six European countries have travelled to the Maldives so far in 2025, making Europe the largest regional source market. Russia recorded the highest number of arrivals from the continent, with 265,000 tourists, making it the second-largest individual source market overall.
The United Kingdom followed with 191,000 visitors, while Germany ranked third among European markets with 160,000 arrivals. Italy, France and Spain also contributed significantly to the overall European tourist numbers. Europe has traditionally been the Maldives’ strongest tourism source region.
China remained the largest single source market, with 322,000 tourists, representing 15 per cent of total arrivals.
In total, the Maldives has welcomed 2.1 million tourists so far this year, marking a 10 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
