Malé City Council Signs with STO to Build Skate Park in Villimale’

Malé City Council has signed an agreement with State Trading Organization Plc (STO) to develop and maintain a skate park in Villimale’.

Secretary General Abdul Muhaimin Naseer signed the agreement on behalf of the council, while Director of Projects and Assets Mohamed Ihsaan Waheed represented STO.

The council plans to construct the skate park and a recreational area on land adjacent to the outdoor gym and park at the Villimale’ ferry terminal. Both projects will be implemented in two phases.

Mayor Adam Azim said the skate park will provide opportunities for youth and children in Villimale’ interested in the sport. Speaking at the signing ceremony, he added that the changes in Villimale’ aim to create a more pleasant environment for residents.

The council approved the skate park development during its 217th public meeting on 22 October 2025.
