The National Youth Conference has begun in Malé with the participation of 93 young people representing a range of sectors, aiming to strengthen youth engagement in national decision-making.
Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed attended the opening ceremony, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts and members of the Presidential Youth Advisory Board.
The conference is organised by the Presidential Youth Advisory Board in collaboration with the Youth Ministry and is intended to create a direct platform for young people to contribute to discussions on national priorities and policy direction.
The two-day forum is taking place at the Youth Hub in Malé. Organisers said the conference seeks to identify key challenges faced by young people, develop practical solutions and contribute to the formulation of a comprehensive national youth policy. Officials described the event as a consultative platform to gather perspectives and recommendations to advance youth interests at the national level.
The programme includes workshops across six thematic areas, with discussions scheduled to conclude at the end of the conference.
