Maldives Tourist Arrivals Reach 2.2 Million In 2025, Latest Stats Reveal

Maldives has welcomed over 2.2 million tourists in 2025 so far, marking a 9.9 percent increase compared to last year.
Data from the Ministry of Tourism and Environment shows that 2,213,795 visitors had arrived in the country by 27th December, compared with 2,014,577 in the same period in 2024.
During the first 27 days of December, 191,734 tourists visited the Maldives, representing an 8.4 percent increase from 2024. The largest numbers of travellers came from China (328,503), Russia (272,852), the United Kingdom (199,570), Germany (166,079) and Italy (147,529).
The milestone of two million passengers was reached on 27th November 2025, a month earlier than in 2024, reflecting a daily average of 6,466 international arrivals.
Velana International Airport (VIA) is projected to serve 22,000 passengers today, with over 11,000 arrivals and a similar number of departures. The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) noted that this is the busiest day since the opening of Terminal 1, as more airlines continue transitioning to the new passenger terminal.
