Man Arrested and Remanded for 15 Days Over Multiple Fraud Cases

A man has been arrested and remanded in custody for 15 days in connection with multiple fraud cases.

The suspect, Ahmed Irufaal of Ma. Gulshankinaaraa, was taken into custody on Wednesday in relation to nine separate cases of fraud and deception.

Police reported that Irufaal allegedly obtained more than MVR 50,000 from several victims since May. The funds were reportedly deposited into bank accounts opened in his name at two different banks.

The Anti-Scam Centre is leading the investigation into the matter. Authorities noted that similar fraud cases have resulted in multiple arrests in recent months.
