Police are investigating a violent altercation between a man and an elderly woman on Halaveli Street in Galolhu, Malé City.
The incident was reported at 20:59 yesterday, according to a police statement. Authorities have confirmed that the case is under investigation, but further details have not been disclosed.

A video circulating on social media shows a man repeatedly striking the elderly woman. Another individual is seen attempting to restrain the attacker, who eventually breaks free and strikes the woman on the head several times before fleeing the alley. The woman is then seen pointing in the direction the man ran and speaking, although her words are inaudible in the footage.
Police have not released information regarding the cause of the dispute or the condition of the individuals involved.
