The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has launched the My Portal for individuals wishing to contest the upcoming local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections.
While the portal is now active, nomination forms can only be officially submitted after the elections are formally announced. The commission said the early opening of the portal is intended to streamline the application process once the elections are declared.
Through the portal, candidates can upload personal details and required documents, and pay administrative fees via their e-Faas accounts. This year, candidates are also required to secure the support of at least 50 eligible voters from their constituency through the portal.
The commission has stipulated that criminal and debt clearance certificates uploaded to the portal must be issued by the Department of Judicial Administration and Maldives Correctional Service after 1 December 2025.
ECM has urged prospective candidates to complete all details, upload documents, and pay fees in advance of the official election announcement. Additional information on the portal is available through the ECM hotline at 1414.
