Police Arrest Five Foreign Nationals In Malé Over Suspected Liquor Dealing

The Maldives Police Service has arrested five foreign nationals in Malé in connection with suspected liquor dealing, following a joint operation carried out earlier this week.

The arrests were made last Monday during an operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence unit. As part of the operation, police searched an apartment in the city, where officers recovered bottles of suspected liquor and equipment believed to have been used in the production of alcohol.

Those arrested include four Nepali nationals, identified as Diu Kumar Meyongba, aged 30, Suman Adhikari, aged 26, Ramji Pariyar, aged 38, and Bikram Nepali, aged 27. A Bangladeshi national, Mozammel, aged 43, was also taken into custody.

Police said all five individuals have been handed over to Immigration Maldives for deportation. Investigations into the case are continuing.
