High Court Appoints Justice Hassan Shafeeu to JSC

The High Court has appointed Justice Hassan Shafeeu as a new member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
In a statement, the High Court said Justice Shafeeu was elected to the commission in accordance with Article 158(n) of the Constitution.

The JSC is responsible for overseeing matters related to the judiciary, including the appointment, promotion and disciplinary control of judges. Its members include the Speaker of Parliament, judges elected from the Supreme Court, High Court and lower courts, a member nominated by Parliament, a public representative nominated by Parliament, the President of the Civil Service Commission, the Attorney General, and a representative appointed by the legal profession.
Justice Shafeeu was appointed to the High Court on 4 October 2020, having entered the judiciary in October 2013 as a judge of the Family Court.
Separately, the High Court also announced the appointment of Justice Huzaifa Mohammed to participate in the Judicial Appeal Council in 2026, in accordance with the Judicial Service Commission Act.
