Government Opens Applications for MBBS Scholarships in Bangladesh

The Ministry of Higher Education, Skills and Labour has opened applications for an MBBS scholarship opportunity for the 2025–2026 academic year at the Armed Forces Medical College in Bangladesh.

In an announcement, the ministry said the scholarship is open to eligible Maldivian students seeking to pursue undergraduate medical studies abroad. The opportunity forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to expand access to higher education and build a skilled health workforce for the country. 

The application deadline has been set for 20 January 2026. Interested applicants are required to submit their applications through the designated online portal of the Bangladeshi authorities.

The ministry has advised prospective candidates to seek further information or clarification by contacting schol@mohe.gov.mv or calling 1474. 

The ministry has advised applicants to ensure, prior to enrolling, that the institute offering the course is one recognised by the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA), and that the selected course is approved by the MQA.

In addition, applicants selected for professional or licensing-related courses are requested to ensure, before enrolling, that the course is one approved by the relevant regulatory authority (for example: Maldives Allied Health Council, Maldives Nursing and Midwifery Council, Maldives Medical and Dental Council, Civil Aviation Authority) and that it is conducted at an institution recognised by the respective authority.
