The Department of National Registration (DNR) has signed an agreement with the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) to enhance digital banking efficiency and security.

The partnership focuses on integrating the DNR’s API link, which will allow MIB to instantly verify the identity information of its customers against the national database.

This direct access to verified data is expected to enable MIB to expedite service delivery through a more robust and reliable system. The collaboration will also strengthen MIB’s integration with the government’s online digital ID platform, e-faas, supporting a range of digital services, including streamlined online account creation for customers.

The initiative follows a similar information-sharing agreement the DNR established with the Bank of Maldives (BML) last year, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to modernise and interconnect digital services across the Maldivian financial sector.
