The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has received a total of 315 complaints concerning the voter registry for the upcoming Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections, scheduled for 4 April.
The commission reported that, as of 18:00 on Wednesday, the complaints primarily relate to changes of address, changes of residence, and requests to remove deceased individuals from the registry.
The deadline for submitting complaints to the Registry of Eligible Voters is 15:00 on Tuesday. The ECM has emphasised that any request for addition, deletion, or correction in the registry must be supported by an official document verifying the claim. Political parties may submit complaints through the Simedha portal.
Voters are able to verify their information using the registry published on the ECM website or by sending an SMS to 1414 in the format VR [space] ID number. Complaints can also be submitted through the commission’s main portal.
For election-related inquiries, the ECM call centre is available at 1414, operating daily from 08:00 to 22:00, except on Sundays when it is open from 15:00 to 20:00.
