Gov’t Signs Agreements to Expand Training and Employment Opportunities for Youth

The Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development has signed two agreements aimed at increasing training, skills development and employment opportunities for Maldivian youth.
The partnerships are intended to support national development by equipping young people with practical skills and improving their access to career opportunities.
One agreement was signed with Octopus Systems Pvt Ltd to establish structured apprenticeship and internship programmes. The initiative will provide workplace training designed to create direct pathways to employment.
Under the arrangement, Octopus Systems will provide mentorship and guidance to participants, allowing trainees to gain practical experience in a professional working environment.
A second agreement was signed with Taskin LLP to promote the development of digital skills and expand flexible employment opportunities through online and freelance work.
Both agreements were concluded under the framework of the Sustainable and Integrated Labor Services (SAILS) Project.
The project is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development and the Maldives Pension Administration Office, with support from the World Bank.
The SAILS project provides a range of services including career guidance, job search support, skills training and mentoring, with the aim of helping Maldivians secure sustainable employment and adapt to the demands of the modern economy.
