The Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) received reports of 916 cases involving possible rights violations last year, according to the commission’s 2025 annual report.

The report states that 797 of the cases were submitted by members of the public, while the commission initiated investigations into the remaining 119 cases on its own.

Out of the total cases reported, the commission decided to proceed with investigations into 473 cases and declined to pursue the remaining 460 cases.
