Government Signs Agreement to Upgrade Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been awarded a contract to construct an extension that will upgrade Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital to a tertiary standard facility.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health. The contract was signed by Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim on behalf of the ministry and Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman Yoosufon behalf of MTCC.
According to the ministry, the project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will involve relocating the hospital’s operating theatre, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) and several other services to a temporary area within the existing facility.
The second phase will focus on the construction of the new extension building, which is intended to expand the hospital’s capacity and upgrade it to tertiary level services.
At the same ceremony, the ministry also awarded a separate contract to Lycan Private Limited to construct an extension building for Bodufolhudhoo Health Centre.
The agreement was signed by State Minister Ahmed Gasim on behalf of the ministry and Managing Director Ahmed Aiman on behalf of Lycan Private Limited.
The Ministry of Health stated that the new facility will include office space, a public health unit, a laboratory, a meeting hall, laundry facilities and storage areas for medical and general supplies.
Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim stated that the projects form part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen the health sector across the country. The Ministry of Health continues to implement initiatives aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services throughout the Maldives.
