ECM Begins Dispatch of Polling Materials Ahead of 4 April Vote

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM)  has begun dispatching materials to polling stations across the atolls in preparation for the elections scheduled for 4 April.

The commission said the distribution of materials for 347 polling stations established in the atolls for the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee elections, as well as the public referendum, commenced today via air and sea transport.

Items are being sent by air today to Haa Alif, Raa, Thaa, Laamu, Gaafu Alif, Gaafu Dhaalu and Seenu atolls, as well as Fuvahmulah City and Addu City. Meanwhile, materials are being transported by sea to Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Noonu, Baa, Lhaviyani, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaalu, Vaavu, Meemu, Faafu and Dhaalu atolls.

The commission stated that materials for islands in Kaafu Atoll will be dispatched on 30 and 31 March.

According to the ECM, the transportation of materials is being carried out by its staff with the assistance of the Maldives Police Service.
