Local news outlet Adhadhu news has published a documentary in which a woman named Aisha (name changed), now 22, alleges that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu had a sexual and romantic relationship with her last year. The documentary claims that the President provided monthly financial “gifts” to Aisha during the period of the alleged relationship.

Spokesperson to the President, Heena Waleed, denied the allegations in the documentary, and later today to Adhahdhu news as well, describing them as “baseless” and completely untrue.

MV+ reached out to Heena Waleed via text for comment today. She did not respond, nor did she answer a subsequent phone call.

In the documentary, Aisha said she initially contacted the President in December 2024 to request a job, citing a prior working relationship while employed with the People’s National Congress. She stated that following a meeting with the President in January 2025, she began working in the President’s Office as an Executive Administrator.

Aisha alleges that the President’s intentions were not purely professional from the outset and that their relationship developed into a sexual and romantic one, with the President allegedly promising to marry her as a second wife. She claims that after First Lady Sajidha Mohamed became aware of the situation, she was transferred from the President’s Office to the Ministry of Social and Family Development, and later to the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.

The documentary also includes claims regarding financial arrangements, including a reported monthly budget of MVR 50,000, with one instance of MVR 70,000. Aisha concludes by saying she seeks public support.
