MVR 4 Million Stolen in Malé Apartment Theft; Four Arrested, One Suspect at Large

Police are investigating a major theft reported from an apartment in Nalahiya Residence, where MVR 4 million was stolen.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the incident was reported at approximately 5:49 p.m. on 16 March. 

Authorities said MVR 50,000 has been recovered so far.

Police have identified five suspects in connection with the case. Four individuals have been arrested and are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to locate the fifth suspect.

Those arrested have been identified as:

  • Mohamed Noor Ahmed (40), of Kasthoorimaage, Lh. Naifaru
  • Mohamed Afrah (40), of Moonlight Villa, S. Meedhoo
  • Ismail Asif (36), of Daarul Avval, R. Maduvvari
  • Ahmed Faris (39), of M. Asia, Malé

Police said a significant portion of the investigation has now been completed, with officers currently in the final stages of compiling the case for submission to the Prosecutor General’s Office for formal charges.
