18-Year-Old Dies at MNU Student Accommodation in Male’

An 18-year-old youth has died at a student accommodation facility in Malé, the Maldives Police Service has said, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.

Police said they received a report of the death at around midnight last night but did not disclose the exact location of the incident.

However, media reports indicate that the death occurred at the Dhanaal accommodation facility of the Maldives National University (MNU), located next to its main campus.

The facility houses both Maldivian students from various islands as well as international students.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the death, while investigations are ongoing.
